Effective January 1, 2007, CMS instituted a new procedure for obtaining outpatient therapy CAP exceptions. The AM-PAC is an approved instrument for meeting the CMS requirement. Using the AM-PAC as an outcome measure for outpatient therapy can significantly reduce the administrative and clinical burden of gathering all the information that would be neccessary to obtain a CAP exemption without an approved outcome measure.
